Hindusthan College of Arts & Science ( HICAS ) was founded by Hindusthan Educational & Charitable Trust in 1998, with the primary objective of providing Education for deserving students irrespective of caste and creed. The Mission of the college is to pursue a philosophy of perceptual acquisition of knowledge. The important policy is to provide value-based education and to bring out the hidden potentials in students that equip them to approach life with optimism.

Growth and Development

It started functioning in August 1998 with an inclination towards providing best education, and today after over two decades, the college has grown in its size and stature, from an initial intake of 136 to 2700 students per year and now HICAS accommodates 8700 students who pursue their UG, PG & Research Degrees with just 118 students on the rolls in four undergraduate courses of Commerce, Computer Science, Corporate Secretaryship and. HICAS, though affiliated to Bharathiar University Coimbatore, became autonomous in July 2015. It is autonomous, in the sense that it is empowered to frame its own course of studies and adopt innovative methods of teaching and evaluation. The University degrees will be conferred on the students passing the examinations conducted by the college. With consistent and excellent academic performance of students in the University examinations, HICAS has endeared to many students and parents, grabbing space in the list of top colleges in the country.

Important Programmes

UGC conferred the status of “DBT STAR on HICAS in 2017. HICAS is accreditated with NAAC Today, there are 11 P.G courses and 26 U.G courses and offering various programs in the fields of Arts, Sciences, New era Technologies, Commerce and Management to nearly 9000 students. 11 departments are offering M.Phil. programs and 12 departments offer Ph.D. programs. At present, 265 teaching staff members out of many hold doctoral degree. There are 150 non-teaching staff in service.

Quality Policy

Hindusthan College of Arts & Science endowed with progressive futuristic outlook aims continual growth in the quality of all academic activities with a sense of commitment to fully meet the expectations of students, parents and society at large.

Periodical Tests

Periodical tests will be conducted for the benefit of the students. The students should appear for all the tests and show improvement. Those failing to do so will not be allowed to attend further classes until they appear for a repeat test and perform satisfactorily. Defaulters will not be allowed to appear for the university examinations.

Day Order System

Under the Semester pattern, the college shall work for 180 days in a year. Each Semester will consist of 90 Days of 5 working hours and the day order system is followed.

Tutorial System

Competent and committed faculty helps the students not only in their academic activities but also in counseling them. The Tutorial System functions effectively and each lecturer personally takes care of 20 students and meet his / her ward at least once in a fortnight. Parents are also informed periodically about the attendance, discipline, academic performance etc., of their wards.
