Minimum Entry level requirement for B.Com is Passing in 12th Standard/HSC/10+2(or equivalent level of examination) from any recognized board.
The Department of Commerce has been time-honoured with vision to bring out the best future business leaders of our country. The Department has been gladly established in 1998, with 2 faculties and 35 students. The Department has now emerged as a full-fledged department with 400 students and 10 faculties (3 Professors, 4 Associate Professors and 3 Assistant Professors) at present. The department takes its pride for possessing faculty who have the habit of teaching and learning in every aspect of Curriculum and Entrepreneurship Development in the field of Commerce. The Department also guides M.Phil and Ph.D candidates of both the Full time and Part Time stream.
Bachelor of Commerce is a 3 year undergraduate full time degree Programme of six semesters. The main aim of this course is to focus the needs of the industrial expectation. Three years Programme includes subject such as Accounting, Banking, Auditing, Taxation, Law, Marketing, Management, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship Development, Research Methodology, Business Statistics, Economics, Communication, Computerized Accounting etc. On Completion of the course, student can experience a world of Commerce.
Department of Commerce strives to provide a vibrant platform for students to shape their future by enriching knowledge, enhancing competence, imparting life skills and internalizing values through a plethora of competitions. To cultivate the habit of learning, several initiatives are taken beyond classroom teaching for students. These include workshops, paper presentations and field trips. Interactions with eminent speakers enable students to understand contemporary realities.
This academic year, the Department of Commerce has made an achievement of 70% of students to complete the Certificate courses at advanced levels. More than 40% of the final year students are placed in core companies. At present, nearly 10 students are progressing in professional courses. Around 25% of final year students have become entrepreneurs. A few of our students aim for higher education. More than 50 % of faculty have completed “NPTEL” Courses.
