About the Department

The B.Sc. Computer Science (UG) was the first academic program offered by the Department of Computer Science, which was founded in 1998. In 2001, the M.Sc. Computer Science (PG) was added. The Department launched the M. Phil. and Ph.D. programs in 2003 and 2010, respectively, to raise the reputation of its research. In 2017, the Department received the DBT Star College Status in honour of its outstanding academic performance.

Programme Description

The Computer Science curriculum is intended to give students a solid foundation in both the theoretical and practical elements of computers. It covers fundamentals like programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, networking, and software development, as well as cutting-edge topics like artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and cyber security. The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with IBM, offers an industry-integrated curriculum focused on emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Design Thinking, Data Visualization, Clean Coding with DevOps, and Machine Learning and Deep Learning.

The curriculum emphasises an application-oriented and problem-solving approach, allowing students to gain critical thinking, analytical abilities, and hands-on experience through projects, labs, and industry partnerships.To improve professional preparation, the program offers industry-integrated courses and collaborations with top technology business partners like ICT Academy, Oracle Academy. Graduates of the program are well-prepared for further studies, research, or professions in software development, data analytics, IT consulting, and other technology-related fields.
